| Robert C. Megantz - Intellectual
Property, Member of the Board, Neural Systems Corporation Robert C. Megantz received a B.S.E.E. degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. He is active in the Licensing Executives Society and the Audio Engineering Society. From 1997-1999, Mr. Megantz served as Acting CEO of Neural Systems Corporation, Los Altos, CA. Mr. Megantz has more than twenty years experience in technology development and licensing, primarily in the electronics, telecommunications, and computing industries, working with established and start-up companies. His responsibilities have ranged from product development to intellectual property management to marketing and executive management. Starting in 1978, Mr. Megantz worked at Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corporation, San Francisco, CA in carious engineering and management positions, including as General Manager. While at Dolby, he directed a large, successful international licensing operation with more than 125 licensees in the consumer and professional audio markets. In the technical area, Mr. Megantz directed or assisted in the development of several key audio technologies, including the Dolby Surround, HX Pro, and C- and S- type noise reduction systems, and developed and implemented quality control procedures to ensure compliance with trademark licensing requirements. In 1991, Mr. Megantz left Dolby Labs to help other technology-driven companies more effectively utilize their intellectual property. As a principal at TacTec, a licensing and business development consultancy, his activities have included assisting the Stanford University Office of Technology Licensing (Stanford, CA) in developing and implementing a licensing program for their Sondius™ physical modeling synthesis technology, working the iM Networks, Inc. (Mountain View, CA) in developing and implementing a licensing-based business model for its Internet radio technologies, and providing Kestrel Institute(Palo Alto, CA) with technical and licensing services related to their software technologies. In addition, to his consulting work, Mr. Megantz teaches seminars and is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Leavy School of Business at Santa Clara University, where he teaches the course, "How to License Technology."and has published several articles and the books "How to License Technology" and "Technology Management: Developing and Implementing Effective Licensing Programs." |
